Use a combi in a small-scale household
If you are about to install a new heating boiler you should look at a combi heating boiler if you have a shortage of storage space. A combination gas boiler and balanced flue contain all the components you need to put in a full central heating system. Include radiators and copper pipes and you are then able to heat your dwelling house. Many people might ask whether some component parts had been excluded from this system. The hot water storage cylinder, the feed and enlargement cylinder normally put in the loft, the central heating pump and other component pieces that central heating and hot water systems seem to require.
The answer to your enquiries would be that with a normal combi boiler you do need these component parts. The hot water storage cylinder can be excluded from your system, you do not want a feed and enlargement cylinder up in the attic, the combi boiler case also has room to incorporate the other components mentioned. As a result you can save a significant amount of storage space in your dwelling house.
Do not think that all this is new as combination gas boilers have been fitted for a while now. The combi has been more popular in Europe than in the U.K., but is now being fitted more frequently as an alternative to the conventional wall mounted boiler. A quick check with conventional gas boilers reveals two main differences On the central heating side you still have a fully pumped system but all the heated water which circles around is sealed in. Having no open vents there is no requirement for a feed and expansion tank in the loft. Inclusion of a hot water storage vessel within the gas boiler also removes any need for the hot water storage tank.
Hot water is produced as you require it, this is signalled when you switch on a tap. And cost-effective integral heat exchanger enables the gas boiler to quickly heat and cold water. Hot water in the central heating system is used to instantly heat the heat exchanger. On the other side of the heat exchanger cold mains water is heated before completing its journey to the hot water tap.
Hot water supply to the radiators is a lower importance than the output of immediate hot water for the house. As soon as the hot water valve is closed the combi heating boiler system will once more start providing hot water to the radiators.
As a consequence you should give critical thought to installing a combi gas boiler for your next substitute boiler.
