Prepare for the wintertime and enhance your central heating

As the cold winter approaches the nights get longer and the coldness creeps in, so we must all be prepared, and the best way to do this is via a gas central heating system. There’s nothing cosier than a warm room while a blizzard rages outside, and this warmth is best provided by a sturdy and efficient central heating system.

Gas central heating systems, which basically comprise of a set of central heating radiators, gas boiler and pipework, can be segregated into two distinct classes, pumped systems and vented systems.

Popularly used are pumped systems which comprise of a main feed and expansion water tank that heats up and transmits the heat through pipework to secondary heaters (radiators). The tank has enough space to allow for any water expansion that might result from the heating.

The vented central heating system, on the other hand, is a sealed system, and it doesn’t have the centre section. It’s basically closed, so there is really no need for any water tanks and the space they require. This system offers a major advantage in that it reduces the risk of leakage and prevents other risks such as airlocks; colder countries like Russia can reap great advantages from this systems since it avoids the risk of frozen pipes.

Tell me why I should get gas central heating?.

Well the main benefit of having central heating is that it has the ability to warm up the whole home or office at very fasts speeds, and without affecting the air around you. Before the central heating system came into existence, other heaters like electric and storage heaters were used to keep the house warm or even coal fires. But these produced uncomfortable humidity and a horrible smell.

Central heating eliminated all of these issues, but a central heating system should also be regularly maintained to keep them at there peak. Many home owners turn them on immediately at the arrival of cold weather after leaving them off during the summer season, which is not the proper thing to do. Instead, you should start using the gas central heating system during the autumn season so that if any problem comes to the fore, you can call the heating engineer and get it rectified before the wintertime.

It is also important to remember that most home central heating systems allow in dust or air, thus requiring regular drainage. The best way to do it is to keep a bucket under the valve, and slowly open it to allow all the water to come out; before closing the valve, ensure that no more water is coming out.
