Look after your gas boiler with a boiler care plan

It’s easy to heat up your home during summers however you can meet a lot of problems if your heating boiler stops working as winter approaches unless you are used to talking cold showers. It is only when the gas boiler breaks down that you become acutely aware of its importance in your home. Its vital role in providing warmth and hot water becomes sorely missed; and fears arise of the costly repair bills to come.

If you rent your home, you won’t have to worry about having some money aside for the central heating boiler repairs; your landlord will cover it. However, for homeowners it is always a good idea to make sure you have a little money saved to pay for any unforeseen malfunctions.

You might consider investing in a new boiler model if your previous one is older than ten years, it would cut the cost of your fuel especially if the new one is a high-efficiency model and it would be less prone to breakdown. The type of gas boiler that you should buy depends on your family size and the available space at your home, the existing heating boiler also affects your choice. A combi gas boiler is the most widely known, and is good for small homes with few people, or people who don’t want to wait for their hot water. In a combi heating boiler water is drawn through the mains and heated immediately eliminating the need of storage tanks. Although it is a great opulence to have on demand hot water at the turn of a tap take care if you’re in the shower when someone runs the hot tap!, the system will have a limited hot water heating capacity.

A sealed central heating system system has a storage tank, often in ventilated closet, and allows a big family to simultaneously use the hot tap and take showers without diluting hot water or reducing the water pressure. It is quite easy to install the system central heating boiler and it can also easily fit into your home. But if hot water is used too quickly it would run out because the storage tank hot water would be depleted and is replenishment is not instant.

An open vent gas boiler is the norm in most older homes, and takes up the most space; two water tanks in the loft and a storage cylinder in the airing cupboard. Though it does not give the best pressure and takes a while to heat, it is very like a sealed system that can provide hot water to several outlets.

The fifth type is a back boiler which is bulkier, but can deliver hot water to several outlets under good pressure. Usually back boilers are kept in chimney breasts, but it is generally considered unwise to switch to a back boiler if you don’t already have one due to the higher installation costs. But if your house already had a back boiler when you bought it, you can gain a lot of savings by replacing it with the same type; if it requires replacement, it’s much more cost effective to get a new back gas boiler than getting a totally different central heating system system.

But, no matter what kind of gas boiler you have in your home it can be very expensive to repair. You can get some peace of mind if you take central heating insurance because if any thing goes wrong with your heating system your costs will be covered by the insurance supplier or utility company. Take out a central heating boiler maintenance policy that covers annual gas boiler inspections as well as call-outs and repairs and you could save yourself an extra amount per year.
