Find a central heating system for a warm home
We should all prepare for the wintertime months as the weather gets colder and the days shorter by having good gas central heating in our homes. There’s nothing cosier than a warm room while a blizzard rages outside, and this warmth is best provided by a sturdy and efficient central heating system.
Central heating systems, which basically comprise of a set of radiators, boiler and pipework, can be segregated into two distinct classes, pumped systems and vented systems.
The most commonly used central heating systems are the pumped systems, which consists of two outstanding parts, a feed and expansion tank; the tank is the core of the system, it first heats itself and then transfers the heat to the heaters through the pipes. The expansion tank might fill up at times because of water expansion.
The vented system on the other hand is a sealed system where there is no core heating. This system is essentially self-providing and therefore does not require any water tanks. The main pluses of this system is that issues such as leaking and airlocks are minimised and, especially for those who live in colder climates, pipes will not freeze.
So the question now is, why do we need central heating? Is it really needed?.
Gas central heating is great in a way that it warms up your office and home at a lightening fast speed and the quality of the surrounding air doesn’t even get affected. Electric fires, gas and storage heaters were the types used in the old days. However, these older heating methods make the air sticky and hard, and can also emit an unpleasant smell.
These air quality issues were eliminated by gas central heating; but such a desirable environment can be ensured only by periodic servicing of the central heating system to keep it running efficiently and safely. Spring and summer often sees these systems shut down and completely ignored, only to be abruptly turned on when a chilly wind blows in. Instead, as the weather begins to change, you should use it by degrees in order to spot any problems and give you time to call an heating engineer before winter.
It should also be noted that some central heating systems allow air or dirt into them, so annual draining is required. To flush the system, open the valve carefully and drain the collected water into a bucket, while ensuring that no further water gets into the heating system.
