Determine what configuration of heating boiler you need

There are several kinds of Gas Central Heating Systems that can be bought in the market. Most if not all of these Central Heating Systems comprise of a boiler, some central heating radiators and connecting pipework.

In most parts of the United Kingdom air conditioning is hardly needed because of the average temperatures of those regions. Today a good Gas Central Heating system has become a major part of every home, so much so that it is being installed in all the new houses that are being constructed.

With the onset of winter, heating becomes crucial to warming your home. You can make your home more comfortable, pleasing and relaxing by heating it with Gas Central Heating. Therefore your heating system needs to be efficient and reliable. It should be durable, easy to use and completely safe.

Two kinds of Gas Central Heating Systems are mainly in use; pumped/vented and sealed systems.

You will find pumped/vented systems in most homes at the moment. An expansion tank is present in a pumped heating system. The tank supplies your house with hot water and provides the radiators with heat. The tank makes way for any water expansion that is caused by the heating process. A pumped/vented heating system requires that the tank be installed at the highest level within the house – such as an attic or loft space, certainly on the top floor. It performs dual functions by providing hot water and heating up the house.

A lot of older homes have pumped/vented Central Heating systems.

A slightly newer gas boiler is sealed heating system and this is the preferred heating system in newer properties. No water tanks are needed with the sealed system. There are benefits to have this closed type of system with pipework and tanks being unnecessary.

- There is no chance of pipes freezing in the attic.

- loft space is freed up and pipe maintenance is reduced.

- The risk of leaks is decreased.

- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of airlocks, corrosion and sludge is much lower.

- Can be flushed out under pressure if needed by the mains water supply.

A sealed Central Heating System is a system with the required controls and safety equipment all contained in one. The water for the system is provided directly from the main water pipe of the house. It is plumbed straight into the main water supply.

Normal variations of pressure can be allowed in a sealed system through a pressure vessel that contains compressed gas; this is separated from the sealed system water by a diaphragm. A safety valve will let water to escape or fill up depending on whether the pressure becomes too high or too low respectively.

Gas Central Heating Systems are worth the money as they are cheaper to run than any other form of heating. Their ease of operation and versatility is much better than other types of heating.
