Central Heating systems come in different forms. Most if not all of these Gas Central Heating Systems comprise of a central heating boiler, some heating radiators and connecting pipework.

People in the UK, Europe and some parts of Russia, hardly need an air conditioner because of the low average temperature. Central Heating is more in demand particularly in the chilly wintertime, making a Central Heating System an absolute must-have for all modern houses and all those located in the United Kingdom.

A reliable Gas Central Heating system is important to keep your house warm especially during winter months. Heating your home provides a relaxing and cosy atmosphere. For this, you need a reliable heating boiler in your Central Heating system. It is essential to have peace of mind that your Central Heating System is not only practical to use but also safe.

Central Heating system can be divided into two broad classes, pumped/vented systems and sealed systems.

You will find pumped/vented systems in most homes at the moment. An expansion tank is present in a pumped heating system. The hot water tank performs two functions; firstly, supply hot water to your house, and secondly, provides heat to the radiators. The expansion tank has enough space to allow for the expanding of water as a result of heating. It is normally placed at the highest place of the house like the loft area, taking up space. The hot water tank has two main functions; to heat the house and and provide hot water for washing.

A pumped/vented Gas Central Heating System is what most homes probably have, especially those built many years earlier.

A slightly newer, more up-to-date central heating boiler that many people are choosing over a pumped/vented Gas Central Heating system is a sealed system. This system doesn’t have water tanks as it’s a closed heating system, this will save you space and reduce maintenance costs as there are fewer components. This unvented system eliminates water tanks and attic plumbing, thus giving a number of advantages.

- The problem of freezing pipes is eliminated.

- No maintenance work on the tank or pipes that would be in the attic in a pumped/vented system.

- Because the system is not vented, there is less chance of water leaking out.

- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of airlocks, corroding and sludge is much lower.

- The mains water supply can flush the sealed system if required.

All the required controls and safety devices are incorporated into the sealed Central Heating systems. No tank feeds a sealed system, the supply comes directly from the mains. The pressure of the main water supply benefits the hot water outlets and gives a healthy shower.

Separated from the sealed system by a diaphragm is a pressure vessel, which contains compressed gas; this vessel is responsible for managing variations of pressure in the heating system. If the pressure is very high in the system, then the water will escape from the safety valve, and if the pressure is too low, then the safety valve will open to let the water in.

Gas Central Heating systems are a great way to keep your house warm, also they don’t cost you as much as the other systems would. They also offer you all round control which is more than most heating systems do.
