Can everybody get heating boiler insurance plans

There are householders insurance policies to cover most eventualities these days, from pet health insurance to consumer electronics cover. Some are more important than others, and some are even compulsory, as is the case with car insurance. Lenders will also require borrowers to take out house insurance if they have a mortgage to cover the cost of replacement and rebuilding. Policyholders are requireded by the lender to protect themselves from losses that could ruin their lives by these types of protection cover.

The next step down would be things like heating system insurance, which can be found with companies such as British Gas and Hometeam (npower). Perhaps because it is not a requirement to have the likes of central heating insurance it is often overlooked by homeowners and landlords, however repairs of the likes of gas central heating systems can be very expensive. If we call someone to repair an unanticipated central heating problem it will take some time for the plumber or central heating engineer to attend which is a big problem as it is difficult to live without hot water or central heating particularly in the wintertime season. More worryingly is the prospect of a faulty system leaking carbon monoxide, which can be fatal.

There are a range of plans on the market. The most basic types are generally just service plans that fulfil the minimum requirements, including annual servicing and safety checks. Maintenance and spare parts coverage are not included in these policies and servicing plans. But anyone taking out one of these plans, unless their gas boiler is still under warranty, only has to pay a small amount more per month to upgrade to a policy that covers repairs and spare parts. Increasing your central heating boiler cover to a more comprehensive plan is very important as your boiler reaches the end of its working life. Customers need to choose at this stage whether they just want their heating boiler covered, or if they want to extend their cover to the rest of the central heating system, radiators and such like.

Watch out for small print before you choose a new policy as there may be limits or exemptions written into the policy. The insurance provider may set a ceiling cost for all repairs and spare parts within a year, or fix a limitation on how many house calls they will entertain. Do not buy a policy just because it is cheap, the insurance cover should be right for your needs.
